Let’s face it: the regulation of AI is necessary. You can’t get around that. The tools are not intrinsically bad, and have a lot of upsides and benefits, but the technology is just too powerful to be let run riot.
You’re talking about a tool that can generate photorealistic videos of real or fictional people doing anything you want them to do, which are almost indistinguishable from real life, and the quality is getting better all the time. It’s gotten so good that it’s not just your 99-year-old granny who’s falling for AI posts on Facebook anymore – even I, as a young man in my 20s, have initially been duped by some clips when they come up in my feed.
