All of us at Gript Media are in mourning today, because we have lost a colleague, and a very dear friend.
Michael Dwyer passed away over the weekend, at the age of 56, following a period of ill health. Michael will be best known to those of you who were weekly listeners to his TRSI podcast, which he co-hosted with our Deputy Editor Gary Kavanagh. Over their five year partnership, Michael and Gary built up a loyal and dedicated listenership, many of them enthralled by Michael’s always laid-back, but ever erudite and intelligent, views on life and the world around him.
What he is less well-known for, perhaps, is the immense behind the scenes contribution he made to making Gript Media what it is today. He was generous with his time, brimming with ideas, and always ready to lend a hand when it was needed, without seeking reward or compensation. This platform would not be even a shadow of what it is today without Michael. For those of us who worked with him his absence will be painful and long-felt. For his family and wide circle of friends, it will be deeper still.
We have lost a dear friend, and a treasured colleague.
You can listen to Gary Kavanagh’s tribute to Michael, in what will now be the final TRSI podcast, here.
