Muhammad Shaker Al Tamimi (35) has pleaded guilty to the murder of his 8-year-old daughter Malika Noor Al Kattib, and the attempted murder of her mother Aisha Al Kattib on the 1st of December 2024.
Al Tamimi, who was released from a UK prison only days before the incident, appeared before Justice Paul McDermott at the Central Criminal Court.
Justice McDermott set a date for sentencing to the 15th of December next, after inquiring whether the family of the victims would like to have the matter settled sooner.
Although defending counsel, Michael Bowman SC informed the court that Al Tamimi has “very good English”, an Arabic interpreter was present in court should any difficulties arise.
Counsel for the DPP indicated that, Aisha Al Kattib “is not feeling very strong at the moment” and that the December date would be more suitable for the canvassing of victim impact statements.
Case Background.
In the aftermath of the death of Malika it emerged that her mother, an Irish convert to Islam, was stabbed in the chest in the assault which took place shortly before midnight.. The attack took place reportedly over use of social media.
Tragic Malika became aware of the disturbance and got out of bed to see what was happening.
The child then reportedly got between her mother and the attacker who allegedly slit her throat.
After stabbing the woman and slitting the child’s throat, the attacker allegedly turned the knife on himself but sustained only minor injuries.
