Gardaí and emergency services responded to a fatal road traffic accident on Dublin’s East Wall Road in Dublin 1 shortly before midnight on Thursday.
The incident, involving a single vehicle, occurred around 11:55pm when a jeep struck an electricity pole.
The driver, a man in his 60s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
The East Wall Road remains closed between the North Strand Road and Alfie Byrne Road this morning to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination. Local traffic diversions are currently in effect.
Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the collision and are requesting that anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, who was in the area at the time, share this material with them.
