A man in his 70s has died following a single-vehicle crash in Co. Kilkenny this morning.
The incident occurred at around 9.30am on Monday morning on the R448 at Smithstown, Mullinavat.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 70s, was fatally injured.
The road was closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, but has since been re-opened.
The local coroner has been notified, with arrangements being made for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward, especially road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time.
