A homeless man who says he works on construction sites cannot afford rent and has been sleeping rough in Dublin for years.
Cian who says he grew up in state care described life on the streets saying he has been “almost murdered” several times while suffering injuries like broken ribs.
In efforts to help Cian find stable accommodation, Kilbehenny Community Centre in Limerick has organised a fundraiser.
The GoFundMe campaign organisers told Gript that Cain is currently in hospital and that they wish to help him as much as they can.
The people of Kilbehenny Community Centre say 30-year-old Cian recently “lost the will to live and went to die alone in a secluded area of Galtee Woods.”
They added, “luckily local walkers found him, but he was in a severely malnourished state and on the verge of death,”
Last year Virgin Media featured Cian’s story in a short documentary.
At the time Cian explained how life on the streets had taken its toll on his well being while insisting that he does not have addiction issues.
Having ‘never had a home’ and after leaving state care Cian ‘wandered the streets’ sleeping rough for many years.
Cian previously stated that he felt frustrated about the ‘irony’ of building apartments and homes that he himself ‘could never afford’ commenting how ‘normal people’ drink their “organic coffees” on the spot where he sometimes sleeps.
He said the situation “really does sum up this island”.
