The Government would likely oppose scrapping the carbon tax “because of the European Union”, according to Fianna Fáil TD John McGuinness.
In an interview with Gript Media this week, McGuinness, who serves as Leas Cheann Comhairle and represents Carlow-Kilkenny, said removing the tax would likely be popular with voters but suggested EU commitments would make such a move difficult for the Government.
