The leader of Germany’s Christian Democrat Party has called on Chancellor Olaf Scholz to put a stop to the country’s acceptance of asylum applicants from Syria and Afghanistan.
In an open letter written to Scholz, opposition party leader Friedrich Merz called for swift deportations and a tightening of regulations around foreign nationals who commit crime, dual citizenships, and a broadening of federal police power.
