Nine men have been found inside a shipping container at Rosslare Europort this morning.
Gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating after the men were discovered in a container at approximately 10:30am this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services located the nine males at the Wexford port, and paramedics carried out an initial assessment of the men at the scene.
According to a statement from Gardaí, eight were deemed to be in good health, while one male is receiving further medical assessment at a hospital in the south east of the country for non-life threatening injuries.
The Independent reports that initial indications suggest that the men entered the container in France on Thursday and spent four days inside prior to their discovery.
They additionally report that the men are understood to be of eastern African origin.
“Gardaí attached to Wexford Garda Station, supported by the Garda National Immigration Bureau, are investigating all of the circumstances of this incident. Anyone with any information in relation to this discovery is asked to contact Wexford Garda Station 053-9165200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 66 11 or any Garda Station,” the garda spokesperson said.
Last March saw a similar discovery, when seven men were found inside a truck trailer at the same port.
