A Department of Housing scheme that enables approved local authority tenants to rent out rooms in their homes to eligible third level students saw fewer than 10 completed applications across the country in its first year of operation.
The ‘Room for a Student – Local Authority Tenancies Scheme’ came into operation December 1, 2023 and was monitored by the Department for a period of 12 months, until December 2024, “in order to establish its take-up and impact”.
