State-owned electricity company EirGrid is set to splash almost €9,500,000 on gift cards and vouchers for its employees, according to a notice posted on government procurement portal, eTenders.
The notice states that EirGrid intends to issue each of its 600+ employees with a digital gift card/voucher, or physical versions of those where digital won’t be possible.
The estimated value of the contract was initially €8,648,748, but the estimated value was revised upwards to €9,443,874 and awarded to AllGo Rewards, which offers both physical and digital mastercard giftcards.
The latest publicly-available headcount for EirGrid is found in its 2024 Gender Pay Gap report, which states a total of 605 employees. However, this figure is higher when its subsidiary, SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland) is included.
However, €9,443,874 divided among roughly 605 employees would result in a gift card worth just under €16,000 per employee.
EirGrid last year saw a 32 percent jump in annual revenues on 2023, reaching €1.14 billion, marking the first time the company’s turnover crossed the €1 billion mark.
