Revenue officers seized approximately 55kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €1.1 million, at Dublin Port over the weekend.
In a statement, Revenue officials said, “The seizure was made as a result of risk profiling, following the search of a truck which had arrived from the UK. The illicit drugs were discovered hidden in vacuum-sealed packages within the sleeping compartment of the truck.”
One male in his 30s was arrested by An Garda Síochána, and has since appeared before the courts with investigations ongoing in the background of how the drugs reached Irish shores.
Revenue says the seizure is part of its ongoing investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.”
