Boris Johnson has declared that global warming is a more serious threat than Covid, and says it proves that we have to “listen to the scientists” and employ “urgent government action.”
The comments were made at the Global Investment Summit at the Science Museum in London yesterday, where the British Prime Minister urged wealthy attendees to “face a challenge that is even bigger for humanity” and “a threat to our way of life that is ultimately far worse than Covid” – namely, climate change.
“The lesson of Covid is absolutely clear,” said Johnson. “We have to listen to the scientists – they’re very often right, you know. We need urgent government action.”
He also stressed the role of the private sector in addressing emissions.

Earlier this year, Johnson said that in the wake of Covid-19, G7 nations should focus on “building back better” in a “greener, more gender-neutral, and perhaps a more feminine way” – a variation of US President Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” campaign slogan.

Johnson has heavily emphasised “building back greener” in public statements over the past year or so.
Great news Jaguar Land Rover is set to become an all-electric brand by 2025, a significant step towards becoming a net zero business by 2039. A brilliant example of British engineering leading the industry to a cleaner future, as we build back greener.https://t.co/iDATPQ7zJv
