Last week saw the announcement of a powerful new partnership between the lesser-known ‘prediction market’, Kalshi, and the much better-known American news network, CNN, marking a step in the direction of Kalshi CEO, Tarek Mansour’s dystopian goal of “financialising everything” and creating a “tradeable asset out of any difference in opinion”.
Some necessary context before we begin, for it’s a relatively obscure topic we’re dealing with, will hopefully go some way towards explaining why I’m choosing to cart out the ‘D-word’ again – dystopian – and risking characterisation as an old bore.
