Last week, Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan gave assurances that the possession of child sex abuse material is being adequately dealt with under current legislative practices in Ireland.
The Minister also stated that he “wasn’t aware” of offenders avoiding jail in such circumstances, although numerous court reports from all across the Irish media landscape show that this is happening regularly.
