A man in his 30s has been arrested after the fatal assault of a man (50s) in Finglas, north Dublin overnight.
Gardaí responded to an incident at Hampton Wood Way on St Margaret’s Road at approximately 12:30am.
The assaulted man was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem is due to take place later today at Dublin City Mortuary.
It is the second fatal stabbing in Finglas in the last two weeks, after 34-year-old Mark Carroll died following an attack at Collins Place in Finglas last week.
A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of this investigation and he is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The scene of the assault is currently preserved for technical examination, with investigations into the incident ongoing.
