Catherine Connolly was duly elected President of Ireland last week. But many of her supporters have been quick to try and paint her success as an overwhelming victory or historic turning point that will shake Irish politics to its foundations.
“The turnout increased,” tweeted People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy in the aftermath of the victory.
