Taoiseach Micheál Martin has received harsh criticism online after failing to meet with the #MicaChildren protest gathered outside the Dail.
“Mica children wait outside the Dáil for An Taoiseach Micheál Martin to meet them face to face!” said local Donegal organiser Anne Diver.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin claimed that he checked but that he hadn’t received an invitation to come down and meet the children.
Martin added that the ‘situation is shocking’ that children have to come and protest outside Leinster House and that the message has been received, vowing “enormous provision” to deal with the situation.

He says it is not as simple as presented, but there will have to be an enormous provision to deal with the Mica scandal.

However, the Mica Redress twitter account insisted that the Taoiseach had been invited, saying:
“You did so get an invite @MichealMartinTD – here’s another invite from the mouths of the children.”
They included a video of the children chanting “Micheal Martin, come out!”
