Catholic education organisations have raised the discriminatory effects of Irish State education policy at the United Nations, highlighting the ban on Catholic primary schools prioritising Catholic children in cases of oversubscription.
The joint submission to the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) was made by the Catholic Education Partnership (CEP), alongside the International Organisation for the Right to Education and Freedom of Education (OIDEL), the European Committee for Catholic Education (CEEC), and the International Office of Catholic Education (OIEC).
