Couple found dead in holiday jacuzzi. Children raised the alarm after grim discovery in Cullera home.
A couple from Ireland were found dead in the jacuzzi of a holiday home in Cullera after their two young children came across the bodies on Tuesday afternoon.
The man, aged 50, and the woman, aged 45, were discovered in the water of the private residence within a coastal housing development.
Both were naked and had injuries that appeared to be puncture wounds, according to early accounts from investigators.
Guardia Civil officers were called to the scene, and the Policía Judicial homicide unit has taken charge of the case. No line of inquiry has been ruled out.
While the injuries raised concerns, sources stressed that accidental deaths remain a possibility and nothing has been confirmed.
The couple’s two young children found their parents and alerted neighbours. Social services in Cullera have since taken responsibility for the children’s care.
Investigators spent the evening examining the jacuzzi area and the rest of the property.
They noted “some indication that something unusual may have happened”, but warned that the circumstances remain unclear.
Local newspaper Las Provincias first reported the incident, stating that the bodies showed injuries that appeared to be puncture wounds, but again emphasised that accidental causes have not been dismissed.
The inquiry continues, and officers are awaiting forensic results to determine how the couple died and whether the injuries were inflicted or caused by the jacuzzi’s mechanisms.
