The Government has backed down from planned autumn fuel tax hikes, with opposition parties claiming Ministers were “afraid to risk fuel protests during the EU Presidency”.
In a statement published by the Department of the Taoiseach on Friday, the Government confirmed that scheduled increases in fuel excise duty for September and October will not proceed.
