The AI chatbot ChatGPT is expected shortly to come under tight new EU regulatory oversight, Bloomberg reports, with parent company OpenAI confirming to Gript that they were engaging constructively with the European Commission in a process that would likely see compliance handled through their recently expanded Dublin HQ.
According to at least one insider speaking to the press, ChatGPT is soon to be classified as a very large search engine or VLOSE, potentially before the end of August, requiring enhanced reporting requirements under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
