One of the great funding wells that the Government draws from for its dubiously efficacious social funding streams is the ‘Dormant Accounts Fund’. And yet it is the focus of precisely zero debate because it’s born out of the mundane need to administer funds from accounts that are unlikely to be reclaimed.
How the Government allocates this money ought to receive a much greater deal of scrutiny, because it’s deployed towards causes that it’s far from certain are high up the list of the public’s priorities – whom the Government are properly supposed to be serving.
