The British government is currently working towards the implementation of a “prominence regime” on social media that would see content from “trustworthy” news sources (the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, for example) boosted, while independent journalists and content creators would be downranked.
It is an idea I unfortunately suspect would gain traction among a significant number of Irish legislators, who’ve identified “the algorithm” as the source of all of the discontent and anger roiling politics the western world over.
