There was a rare piece in the New York Times a few days ago. It praised the gift of siblings. Dr Catherine Ruth Pakaluk explained that “Life is better with siblings.”
In nearly every country in the European Union, the one-child household is already more common than two- or three-child households. Dr Pakaluk interviewed mothers of five or more children, for her book Hannah’s Children “a book about what leads some women to have large families while the rest of the world has fewer and fewer.” The mothers explained that when it came to raising children with good character it is easier to raise five than one.
