A member of An Garda Síochána has been treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries after a garda patrol car was rammed by a stolen vehicle yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí in Glanmire, Co. Cork, responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in an industrial estate Monday afternoon at approximately 2.20pm.
Upon arrival, the occupants of the stolen car rammed the garda patrol vehicle, injuring a garda member.
A garda spokesperson said that she was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, and that no other injuries were sustained by gardaí in the course of the incident.
The occupants of the stolen car fled the scene on foot.
Two men were arrested during a follow up search of the scene and are currently detained at a garda station in the southern region.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to the incident to get in touch, including anyone who was in the Glanmire industrial estate yesterday afternoon between 1.30pm and 3pm and who may have camera footage.
