There have been emotional scenes on Dublin’s Henry Street this afternoon after a crowd gathered to mourn the death of Congolese national, Yves Salika.
Mr Salika died after he became involved in an altercation with security staff at the Arnotts department store last Friday, after suspicions arose that he may have been shoplifting.

As Gript reported earlier, the 35-year-old had a history of theft and robbery offences, including a theft from Arnotts dating back to October last year, for which he received a fine.

Taoiseach Michéal Martin has called for an investigation into his death. A man in his 80s was injured amid the altercation with security staff as Salika reportedly tried to flee the scene before he was pinned to the ground and held down, according to footage of the incident, which has been widely circulated.
