Last week, Varadkar took aim at rural Ireland. He said that they “are very quick to tell people in urban Ireland that we’re the real workers, we’re the ones paying all the bills, we’re the ones feeding the country.” I haven’t heard rural Ireland say they are the ‘real workers’ or that they are the ones who pay ALL the bills. It was a cheap trick to impute these sentiments to such a large group of people. It was also inaccurate.
