The European Commission is doubling down on tackling ‘hate speech’ directly from Brussels, despite there being a lack of consensus on the topic at national level across the union, according to a leaked copy of the Commission’s LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy 2026-2030 seen by Gript and due to be announced this week.
The strategy, which builds upon a previous 2020-2025 strategy, describes as “essential” combatting and preventing “all forms of violence,” and says that “hateful narratives” must be “dismantled” in order to uphold “common EU values”.
