A man who is accused of assaulting a Garda who was on patrol in the area of Capel Street Dublin has appeared before Cloverhill District Court.
Abdullah Khan, who has an address in North Dublin, appeared via video link before Judge Alan Mitchell where he elected to be remanded in custody for a further 2 weeks , out of a possible 4, for directions from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The incident in question took place around 6 pm on Capel Street in the city’s north side on the 29th of July.
The accused man is charged with assault causing harm to the officer and the production of a Tactix knife capable of causing serious injury.
He has yet to indicate a plea to the charges, which are under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act.
He was remanded in custody to the 17th of September next.
Reporting restrictions remain in place in respect of the accused’s home address.
