A Dublin woman has pleaded guilty to stealing an expensive Dyson hoover from a brach of DID Electrical on the 13th of July last.
The court heard how Rachel Mercer (31) of no fixed abode in Coolock, Dublin “threatened” staff at the shop with a “large red handled pliers” causing them to be “in fear” before leaving the premises without paying for the hoover.
Prosecuting Gardaí told the court that the price of the hoover was €740.
Ger defending counsel said that the accused is “very anxious” that her case be dealt with as soon as possible, however Judge Michele Finan told Mercer to “slow” her “jets” as the court cannot complete sentencing “by law” before the completion of an ordered probation report.
Reviewing the charge sheets before the court, Judge Finan said, “Some of these matters are quite serious.”
The accused was remanded on bail in respect of the theft matter to be sentenced on the 30th of September.
