Perhaps you noticed, and if you did, you probably don’t remember, John Ware’s recent piece in The Irish Times about the forensic evidence accumulating in British archives now points increasingly to the involvement of the Republic in the IRA’s murder campaign.
One event he referred to was the IRA’s M62 coach-bombing in in 1975, though he omitted one detail; it was the only terrorist atrocity that wiped out an entire family – the Houghtons: Clifford, 23, his wife Linda, 23, and their sons Lee, five, and Robert, two. Had they been Irish, their names would be remembered and honoured still.
