A man has appeared before Dublin District Court charged with attempted murder contrary to common law.
Bernhard Mongan Snr. (42) of Deansrath Grove Clondalkin, Dublin is charged with attempting to murder Bernhard Lawrence (29).
The victim was allegedly chased during the assault leading him to take refuge at a stranger’s house and was pursued before receiving life changing injuries, including the severing of parts of his fingers.
Garda Shane O’Brien gave evidence before the court this morning, where the court heard that the DPP’s directions were for trial on indictment at the Central Criminal Court.
Mongan Snr. is charged with causing serious harm, possession of a hammer as a weapon during a burglary, and attempted murder.
The accused, who is not working and is in receipt of social welfare, is to appear before Cloverhill District Court via videolink at 10:30am on the 26th August.
He appeared before the court wearing light blue jeans and a dark coloured Ralph Lauren pullover.
