Figures gathered by Gript reveal that Government departments have spent €96 million on media advertising since 2019, with spending spiking during the Covid-19 pandemic and remaining elevated in the years afterwards.
The Department of the Taoiseach was the biggest spender, splashing out over €28 million between 2019 and 2024, followed by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, which spent €11 million over the same period.
