A man in his 40s is expected to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning in connection with an investigation into hijacking and robbery incidents across south Dublin and Wicklow over the weekend.
Gardaí attended the scene on Saturday evening following report of a carjacking at a commercial premises on St Peter’s Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.
At 7.45pm that evening, a man approached a black Nissan Quasquai and threatened the female driver of the car who exited the vehicle.
The man then took control of the vehicle and drove off.
Gardaí responded later that evening to reports of a robbery at a commercial premises on the Dublin Road, Bray, Co. Dublin, that took place at approximately 8.15pm, during which a man entered the store brandishing an implement and threatened staff before a quantity of alcohol was taken.
Just over 30 minutes later, Gardaí responded to reports of a separate robbery at a commercial premises in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow.
A man entered the store and threatened staff with an implement, before a sum of cash was taken.
Gardaí believed that the vehicle used during the robberies was the black Nissan Quasquai that had been stolen earlier that evening.
The man, aged in his 40’s, was arrested on Sunday morning in connection with the investigation, and was subsequently charged.
He is expected to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning at approximately 10.30am.
