A left wing activist has admitted to ramming a vehicle into a group of protestors in Dublin in 2022.
38-year-old Stephen Bedford, who is last known to have an address at a hostel in Usher’s Island, admitted that he drove a car into a group of people protesting the housing of asylum seekers in the East Wall area of Dublin during a livestream of the gathering.
Bedford is to be sentenced next year.
He was sent to prison in 2015 in connection with his involvement in a squat run at Grangegorman by far-left activists.
As Gript’s Dr. Matt Treacy previously reported, one person was hospitalised after being “carried” on the bonnet of Bedford’s vehicle.
Bedford filmed the incident on his live-stream, and while he claimed to have been threatened, Gardaí informed the court last year that Bedford could have used several other routes to leave the area, and that there was no record of the death threats he claimed to have received.
