After asking the British people for their trust and their votes, Two Tier Keir (looking like the archetypical school master of some middle rate private school) dragged out the lectern again last Tuesday in the Downing Street rose garden to inform the British people that it was now time to take the pain. The October budget will be ‘painful.’ I don’t remember that being in the Labour election manifesto, but then again it is not a vote winner.
Although Sir Keir assured voters that there would not be tax rises in the inform of income tax, National Insurance, or VAT (apart from taxing private school fees – and they deserve it) that still leaves plenty of room to raise capital gains tax and inheritance tax.
