A man who says he is “homeless” and was going through a “bad patch” when he was arrested by Gardaí appeared before Bray District Court this morning.
A prosecuting Garda told the court that when Steven Crosby was arrested on the 22nd of September at 2:15am he was “shouting and screaming” and “would not stop” talking about UFOs and Madeleine McCann.
Gardaí say they were unable to interview Crosby due to his non-stop talking and he was arrested at the scene.
The court heard that Crosby, who appeared with a black eye, has 109 previous convictions including 35 for theft related offences, 36 for public order offences, 13 in relation to firearms offences, 1 for non-fatal offences, 5 for failing to appear before the courts, as well as others.
He indicated a “guilty” plea early on in the short hearing.
Crosby said that he is doing his best to “go straight” and is currently residing at a homeless hostel in Ballybrack.
He was handed a €500 fine and instructed to pay the full amount within six months.
When asked to provide the address of the hostel he is staying in, Crosby indicated that he did not know the address and was assisted by a member of An Garda Síochána in providing the information to the court.
