Health Minister Stephen Donnelly officially referred to Ireland’s high recorded excess death rate in the wake of the pandemic at least 12 times this year – despite his claim this week that he had no knowledge of the apparent phenomenon.
This week Gript asked the Minister if he knew what was driving a rise in excess deaths seen in Ireland and across Europe over the winter of 2022-2023, and several months thereafter. Donnelly replied that he wasn’t aware that there was such an increase during that period.
