Get ready for a stormy weekend ahead as Met Éireann warns of heavy, thundery showers that could lead to flooding. Despite warmth and humidity, showers are expected throughout the day and night in various parts of the country.
Friday started with warm and muggy conditions, along with showers from the southwest. However, many regions will enjoy dry weather with occasional bursts of sunshine. Temperatures on Friday afternoon will range from 21C to 25C, although the east coast will experience slightly cooler conditions, peaking at 21C. Temperatures will drop to lows of 12C to 16C at night, but most areas will remain dry with scattered showers under broken cloud cover.
Saturday is set to maintain the warm and humid atmosphere with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Scattered showers originating from the southwest will spread across the country during the morning. Some of these showers may be heavy with thunder, and overnight the country will see similar shower activity, increasing the risk of flooding. Mist and fog will develop later in the evening, and temperatures will drop to around 14C with light breezes.
Sunday morning will bring a combination of clouds, intermittent sunshine, and scattered showers, with localised thundery showers possible.
Next week on Monday and Tuesday, expect warmer or even hot weather with sunshine and intermittent, slow-moving showers. Some showers may be heavy with thunder and the potential for flooding. However, certain regions will remain dry with temperatures ranging from 20C to 26C.
Met Éireann also reports that this weekend is expected to see the highest pollen count so far this year, which may cause problems for hayfever sufferers and those with asthma.
